Lucy Turner upcycles for John Lewis

Lucy Turner has designed a limited edition nest of tables for John Lewis's 2013 Spring/Summer collection

Lucy Turner and John Lewis are a great fit

Limited edition leaf nest of tables by Cornwall-based Lucy Turner for John Lewis, £399

John Lewis has commissioned Lucy Turner, one of our brightest stars in the upcycling firmament, to design for its 2013 homewares collection. She has created two tables using sustainable solid ash and birch ply, each charmingly decorated with Formica leaf motifs.

You'll have to be quick as only 200 nests are available.

Turner, who is based in Penryn in Cornwall, has developed a distinctive style using laser-cut Formica to give a new lease of life to discarded wooden tables, sideboards, wardrobes and cabinets. She tours second-hand shops for pieces mainly from the '50s, '60s and '70s, and she then brings them into the 21st century using bright colours and motifs such as leaves, ferns or flowers.

John Lewis has been working with Turner has part of its 'Made in Britain' drive, which has seen the high street retailer promote new designers.
