London pop-up auction offers chance to buy Italian collectables

The Cabinet Rooms specialises in pop-up auctions and it's holding a sale in London's Primrose Hill of vintage furniture and accessories with a strong Italian flavour. And you can bid online if you can't get there in person

That giraffe's go my name on... We're all mad about pop-up events - restaurants, shops and now auctions. The Cabinet Rooms, which specialises in vintage and modern design, is holding an auction on 29 April of furniture and decorative accessories that includes some fine Italian pieces such as a Gio Ponti rocking chair for Cassina, and a 1955 umbrella stand by Ettore Sottsass. The auction takes place at 7pm in The Kennedy Hall, Cecil Sharp House, Regent's Park Road, London NW1

Whether you're a collector, an interior designer or someone doing up their home and looking for some interesting vintage bits and pieces, the pop-up auction by The Cabinet Rooms on 29 April offers the chance to acquire some superb vintage Italian furniture, as well as pieces from Scandinavia, that you might not come otherwise come across.

A '50s Gio Ponti rocking chair, an Ettore Sottsass umbrella stand, lighting by Stilnovo and a 1980 Kandissone geometric tapestry by Alessandro Mendini for Studio Alchimea are among the highlights. Philip Thomas, co-founder of The Cabinet Rooms, says interest in 20th century Italian design is strong: 'It was innovative and made using high quality materials, which means the pieces endure in style and in form. They are highly sought-after.'
