AntikBar opens its first vintage poster showroom

The online expert has moved into bricks and mortar - poster company AntikBar has opened its first showroom in London, on the Kings Road

Lambretta poster

AntikBar is a leading player in the thriving market for original vintage posters. Its new gallery at 404 Kings Road in London's Chelsea opened this month and showcases its vast collection of posters from around the world. Pictured above: 1963 Lambretta poster, £325, 140x98cm.

It's an online brand but AntikBar owner Kirill Kalinin has listened to customers who say they'd like to be able to see posters before they buy.

The company's first gallery has opened in Chelsea and customers can browse through thousands of original vintage posters that AntikBar sources from around the world.

Poster for the film Gambit starring Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine, 1966, £250, 76x101.5cm
A British Railways 1950s' poster promoting the delights of Bognor Regis, £575, 101x63cm

Posters offer fascinating insights into earlier eras and they're highly collectible; and they're also a very eco friendly artform.

AntikBar's collection covers cinema, advertising, travel, sport and politics, with prices from the low £100s.

The gallery will also host talks and lectures and auctions.
